CURRICULUM VITAE
Imaging Anatomy: Knee, Ankle, Foot - Julia R. Crim - Adlibris
3 Body Planes and Sections • Body planes are hypothetical planes used to divide the body into sections for anatomical study • Medical imaging techniques such as sonography, CT scans, MRI scans, or PET scans are one of the primary applications of body planes • Three most common planes: • Sagittal plane • Frontal (coronal) plane • A plane is an imaginary two-dimensional surface that passes through the body. There are three planes commonly referred to in anatomy and medicine, as illustrated in Figure 3. The sagittal plane is the plane that divides the body or an organ vertically into right and left sides. If this vertical plane runs directly down the middle of the body Using your knowledge of the different body planes shown in Figure 1-2 (shown again below), fill in the blanks with the appropriate body plane for each of the following descriptions. The plane that divides the body into anterior and posterior parts is the ________________ plane.

This chapter reviews pertinent anatomical structures of the maxillofacial region in the axial, coronal, sagittal planes, as well as custom planes.

BIO 113 LAB 1. Anatomical Terminology, Positions, Planes, and Sections and more . Objectives • Describe the anatomical position verbally or by demonstrating it • Demonstrate ability to use anatomical terms describing body landmarks, directions, planes, and surfaces. • Name the body cavities, and indicate important organs in each cavity. Anatomical terminology is a form of scientific terminology used by anatomists, zoologists, and health professionals such as doctors.. Anatomical terminology uses many unique terms, suffixes, and prefixes deriving from Ancient Greek and Latin.

On the trunk of the body, the chest is referred to as the thoracic area. The shoulder in general is the acromial, while the curve of the shoulder is the deltoid.
Frontal planes, also called coronal planes, run vertically (top to bottom) and divide the body into anterior and posterior sections. 3. A plane that separates the body or structure into right and left parts down the body’s midline is called a: a.
